Tuesday Moth Blogging
This creature visited us last Sunday. At first we thought it might be a tiny hummingbird (aren't all hummingbirds tiny?) but it was silent. At last we decided it was a moth - but what kind? Neither of us have ever seen one like it.
These photos were all taken at 1/500th second exposure to stop the wings.
I'm pretty sure it's a Nessus Sphinx Moth - Amphion floridensis

It looks somewhat like a tiny lobster with moth wings.
It's adorable.
Like if you crossed mixed a hummingbird and a lobster in a blender and gave it bee-stripes. How big was it?
About an inch and a half long.
