Mainstreaming evil

The Rude Pundit gets it right. Buried in a pretty good diatribe about the JimJeff Turduckert affair:

this administration has mainstreamed evil, has made it a dull hum in the background.

The idea that evil, or the devil if you will, does not have a pointy tail but wears a business suit is an old one. I don't remember who first suggested it. The game is to get us accustomed to the constant hum, and chip away at our freedom bit by bit.
