Blessings Of Silliness
Our Intern (not interim) minister, J.P. Rodela, today introduced us to what she called an Exercise of Mind, Body, and Soul that she had come up with in Divinity School.
First, extend your right arm forward. Reach your right arm back. Put your right arm forward. Shake it all about.
Then put your left arm in, put your left arm out, you put your left arm in, and you shake it all about. You do the Hokey-Pokey and you turn yourself around, that's what it's all about!
With the help of the choir, she got most if not every member of the congregation to do the Hokey-Pokey, including this one.
Then she recounted what George Carlin (who is just turning 70, by the way) once said:
"What if the Hokey-Pokey is what it's all about?"
