No Cream Filberts To Be Found

I have recently tried three avenues in my ongoing quest for the elusive cream filberts, and have come up empty in all three.

First, I inquired on the Vermont Country Store website, which came up in a search as having them, but they replied that their candy sleuths are unable to find them.

Then, being in South Portland, I went to the Maine Mall, and not only did I not find cream filberts, but the store where I bought them a few years ago is gone. I wouldn't admit it to myself, but I really had my hopes up.

Finally, my mother checked the Yummies.com website and they list Creamed Filberts on their Candy Graveyard page!

So now that my craving is really up, I may just have to try the fondant candy recipe I have to see if it is anything like the cream filberts we all miss.
