Better price for Cream Filberts
A comment on one of my other posts on cream filbert candy drew attention to Stever's Candies, in Rochester, NY. I called them today. Stever's used to buy them from Goelitz (Jelly Belly), and sold a few cases a year. When Goelitz stopped making it, it was otherwise unavailable. Now they make the candy themselves, and if I understood correctly, sell 200 pounds a year.
I did not ask if they are the confectioner in "Upstate New York" that supplies Vermont Country Store, but the woman on the phone was aware of VCS, and noted the substantially higher price they charge.
Stever's sells cream filberts over the phone for $3.50 for 7 ounces ($8.00/lb), while Vermont Country Store charges $15.95 per pound.

Witt's candy store in Bellevue, Ky sells them for $8.99 lb. I stay stocked up!
