Once a punk, always a punk

Walter C. Uhler over at HuffPost has the most appropriate term for the worst president ever.

He's just a punk. He's always been a punk.

I expect that plenty of punks will be quite offended by that characterization of President George Bush II. . .

True punks are incapable of taking offense. He is a true punk.

If I wrote that he was a monkey, I would expect monkeys to take offense.

I don't know about that Pheidias I think that Johnny Rotten and Sid Vicious might not be too pleased with that use of the four letter word 'punk'. . . ;-)

Yeah, 'punk' is a pretty well-defined subculture that doesn't generally imply pathological lying or kleptopmania.

I know y'all are just tryin' ta rile me up ...

punk n. 1. Slang. a.something or someone worthless or unimportant. b. a petty criminal or hoodlum. 2. Archaic. a prostitute.

Johnny and Sid co-opted the term, of course, those rebellious fellows.

Of course the punk subculture does not in and of itself imply pathological lying or kleptomania. It implies the appearance of pathological ... whatever.

You will note I did not say that George 'is punk'. I said he is a punk.

After all, not every garage band musician fixes cars.

By the way, that definition is from the 1968 Random House Dictionary, College Edition. I see no reason to get a new one. English is, after all, an established, unchanging language.

So what does your 1968 dictionary say about the four-letter word SPAM? ;-)

SPAM wonderful SPAM!

In light of UUA President Rev. William G. Sinkford's Holiday Message of December 13th, 2006 the following email was just sent to UUA President William G. Sinkford aka Rev. Bill Sinkford by Robin Edgar aka The Emerson Avenger. It will be most interesting to see how President Sinkford responds to it or indeed *if* President Sinkford responds to it.
