Clueless in Washington

According to the Monitor, Condoleeza Rice recently told a Senate panel that
"Nothing has really taken me aback more, as Secretary of State, than the way the politics of energy is ... warping diplomacy around the world."
Well, that's the problem isn't it? They're just a pack of theorists, with no grounding in reality. Wasn't she a director at Chevron? Wasn't she a Russia expert? Shouldn't she know better?

The clowns engaging in the occupation of our White House are truly clueless. They surround Our Dear Leader with sycophants, and become such themselves. This is not a big game of Risk, girls and boys. The real world is complicated.

Blogging Errors and Physics

Ah, the crossing of blogging and science!

Cosmic Variance has a clever analysis of Glenn Reynolds stupid suggestion that invading Saudi Arabia and Iran would cause good things to happen.

Essentially, by positing five wrong ideas in four declarative statements, Reynolds seems to have achieved a "new state of wrongness" equivalent to "crossing the Chandrasekhar Limit", which may cause his blog to collapse in on itself, with unpredictable results.

Sounds dangerous. Should we hope Doctor Who shows up to save the universe?

Strawberry Fields restored

Strawberry Fields Forever was not showing up in the monthly archives, so I republished. It's back.
