Favorite Unitarian Universalist Music

These are my three favorite songs in "Singing the Living Tradition", the Unitarian Universalist hymnbook:

Let It Be A Dance

We'll Build A City We'll Build A Land

Spirit Of Life
(The line "Giving life the shape of justice" reminds me of Margaret.)

The first two are best sung at a rousing tempo, the last one less so.

Corrected the second title and bumped the post.

Snowballs back?

Sadly, no.

I saw a sign as I was out and about last night that declared, "SNOWBALLS ARE BACK!" This was on a prominent sidewalk sign in front of a local candy store that makes their own confections.

Of course I stopped and rushed in to see if it was true. Alas, they were not the snowballs I have been looking for, the creamed filberts that I've written about before.

They had what they called "Buffalo Snowballs", described as macadamia nuts surrounded by chocolate, rolled in powdered sugar. I explained what I was looking for, and the young woman behind the counter had no idea what I was talking about.

So not only have we lost the candy, we are losing the knowledge of the candy. So sad.

Bipartisanship?

"Bipartisanship is another name for date rape" is a phrase usually ascribed to Grover Norquist, but he says it was coined by Dick Armey.

I say it's really another name for spousal abuse, because the victim keeps forgiving the perp and comes back for more.

So to complete the metaphor, we have GWB playing the part of John Wayne Bobbit. No jury would convict the Dems if they did to GWB what Lorena did to Johnny.

No More Zombie Legislation

Now that the Democrats have recaptured both houses of Congress, can we please have an end to insane zombie legislation? That is, bills that are defeated time after time and are brought back again and again, with the idea that this time, it will be different.
