TPM has a good suggestion - contact local independent affiliates. Here's my email to WKBW:

Next week, ABC will be broadcasting "The Path to 9/11", which is, by all accounts that I have read, a grossly distorted story, purported to be based on the 9/11 Commission report but getting key details wrong or backwards. The producers claim it is not a documentary, but I don't think the public will know the difference, and will believe it as true.

The program has several scenes that portray the Clinton administration as refusing to go after Usama Bin Laden when they had the chance. This is far from the truth. Clinton authorized every CIA mission brought to him for approval. He was obsessed with preventing terrorism, but his many attempts to get legislation through to increase the country's ability to pursue the terrorists were in fact blocked in Congress by Republicans! You can look it up, as they say.

9/11 happened on George W. Bush's watch. His administration ignored the terrorist threat until 9/11. Attorney General John Ashcroft was more interested in prosecuting pornographers than finding terrorists!

My understanding is that this program is a travesty and a slander, and I call on you to decline to broadcast it unless and until it is revised to the satisfaction of those who were there - Richard Clarke, Sandy Berger, and 9/11 commission Vice Chairman Lee Hamilton, among others.

I'll try to call them tomorrow to find out what their plan is.

Not The Path To 9/11

The ABC not-a-documentary "The Path To 9/11" is generating a blogstorm today, here and here and here, among other places. Think Progress has a form to sound off at ABC here.

I sent a post to ABC at their on-again off-again blog here:
If it's not a documentary, why is it called "The Path To 9/11"? Why not call it "The Story We Made Up To Make You Think It's Bill Clinton and The Democrats' fault"?

To claim it is not a documentary with a title like "The Path to 9/11" is preposterous.

It's moderated, so we'll see if they post it. (Update: Nope)
